"The quality of your life is dependent upon the quality of the life of your cells. If the bloodstream is filled with waste products, the resulting environment does not promote a strong, vibrant, healthy cell life or a bio-chemistry capable of creating a balanced emotional life for an individual."

Anthony Robbins

Physical Therapies

Sometimes known as 'bodywork', physical therapies address issues related to the muscles, tendons, ligaments and other tissues. Various methods can be used to assist with the return of function to tired, stiff, strained or damaged parts of the body.

A massage is a hands-on technique that can be used for relaxation and/or for therapeutic purposes. It stimulates the body to increase the flow of blood to the tissues and helps improve the movement of lymph through the lymph glands. Kneading pressure breaks up any crystallised metabolites, such as lactic acid, which can be trapped in the muscles due to poor circulation, over-use, stress or damage. Increased heat and blood flow helps the body to better eliminate any toxins.

  • Relaxation Massage - are you seeking some time out to pamper yourself and be re-invigorated? A massage at 11 Principles is more than your average experience. Our sessions are designed to not only provide the physical touch, but also to fill you with beautiful healing energies to integrate, harmonise and relax your mind, body and soul. The aroma of the essential oils, light pressure and sweeping strokes are used to bring about a sense of calm to both body and mind. Heavier pressure or acupressure points can be used to loosen specific tight muscles where needed.

  • Therapeutic Massage - do you suffer from a stiff neck, back and shoulders or have tight muscles associated with sport or over-use? Then a combination of deeper tissue and firmer pressure is ideal for reducing discomfort and pain in aching and tired bodies, to release blockages and return the muscles to a state of normal tension. Temporary relief can be gained from muscle spasms and cramps, thus improving the range of movement and flexibility. Specialised essential oils and/or linament is used to bring extra blood supply to specific areas to speed the healing process.

  • Hot Stone Massage - this technique can be used to enhance both relaxation and therapeutic massage to stimulate blood flow and to further relax the muscles. The hot stones can be used in the massage and are fantastic tools to tackle the tight spots along the spine, the buttocks (gluteus maximus) and under the shoulder blades. The various sized stones are also placed on the body to keep the muscles extra warm and aid the removal of toxins via the blood stream.

Muscle Stress Release through Acupressure

This hands-on technique is used to assess where stress is being held within the musculature of the body and to return the muscles to a state of normal tension. It is effective for reducing discomfort and pain associated with tight and overworked muscles, especially in the neck, back and shoulders, as well as the calves and the buttocks.

Lisa was taught a range of effective non-manipulative techniques whilst studying with a chiropractor in Santa Monica, USA. By locating specific points within the muscle body and/or insertion points where stress is held, she uses a constant firm pressure and/or a series of deep movements to unlock the tension.

A general massage of the affected, and surrounding, area following the acupressure aids the release of built-up toxins which can then be more easily eliminated by the body's natural processes.

The massage therapies I have had at 11 Principles are absolutely amazing!! I am a regular client and friend with a fast paced lifestyle, and usually am quite tense and rundown when I come in. Lisa is highly skilled, full of knowledge and lovely caring person. By the time I leave, I feel totally relaxed and sleepy, and the next day I feel incredible.

I have recommended 11 Principles therapies to all my family and friends as I know how much it helps me. It is a lot more than just your everyday massage - definitely worth experiencing!

I have been seeing Lisa for a couple of years for remedial massage and her work is just magic. Lisa is highly professional and a very caring person who is able to tune to what your body needs. If you're suffering from stress or aches and pains, or if you just feel like some pampering, I would highly recommend Lisa.
