“For many, negative thinking is a habit, which over time, becomes an addiction... negative thinking is addictive to each of the Big Three -- the mind, the body, and the emotions.”
Peter McWilliams

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

What is it?
EFT is a simple technique used to eliminate a wide range of problems held within the nervous and energetic systems of the body. Simply stated, it is a version of acupuncture without the use of needles. Instead, specific energy meridian points on the body are stimulated by tapping on them with the fingertips.

EFT works on the premise that unresolved negative emotions cause disruption to the body's energy systems and are the major contributors to most physical pain and disorders. It effectively targets emotional issues including deep-seated traumas, addictions, phobias, poor self-esteem and performance anxiety as well as pain, functional disorders and mental stress.

It can be used in a therapeutic setting facilitated by a practitioner, on yourself during times of stress, or to support the overcoming of addictions.

What is the process?
The first step is for you to acknowledge that there is a problem. Sometimes you can easily identify the issue and the negative emotions you are experiencing; eg sadness and loss after a death. At other times, the emotions may seem a little scrambled or difficult to put your finger on. This can be because an incident happened a long time ago, your memories may have been suppressed, or you are so familiar with feeling a certain way that you do not know any different.

A practitioner session(s) is recommended especially for any deep-seated issues where childhood trauma is involved, for addictions of any sort, or where you are not sure of the emotional triggers. Although EFT is an easy technique to learn and to use on yourself, identifiying the exact emotions and staying on track may be difficult for you to do on your own.

At the start of an EFT session, your practitioner will take some notes on the issues you are experiencing, identifying many of the emotions that are likely to be involved through talking with you about the specific incidents you remember. Together we practise the tapping technique before starting work on the priority emotion. The tapping sequence is repeated with each emotion that surfaces until you are able to talk about the particular incident without any distress or discomfort. More than one issue and any underlying emotions can be cleared in a single session.

What are the benefits?
EFT is effective for most emotional problems and can also be used proactively to clear out unrecognised emotional blocks from your past. It is invaluable in eradicating the fear of public speaking or flying and other paralysing phobias. Success has been proven in the treatment of a range of issues including past traumas, addictions, depression and grief however, it can also be used to build self-esteem and improve your sporting achievements.

You will be taught the basic tapping procedure so that you can use it anywhere, anytime, as well as a quick shortcut to use especially during an emotional crisis. The easy-to-use tapping sequence can even be mastered by children.

Lisa has helped me completely change the way I live my life. I no longer worry about the future and try to be the best person I can be on a daily basis.

Many wonderful things have happened in my life and many opportunities have shown up since I started seeing Lisa. I have improved my outlook on life, daily situations, stresses and most importantly, myself. I have also grown spiritually and I thank Lisa for her help.

I look forward to what the future has to offer for me and all the things I can achieve in my life. There is definitely no going back to the somewhat depressed, very anxious and stressed person I used to be.

I recommend 11 Principles to everyone, as everyone deserves to be their personal best; be happy, feel loved and make the most of their lives!
